Culture Media & Sport - new minister appointment
West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock has taken over the brief of culture, communications and creative industries from Ed Vaizey, who resigned from the Government at the end of last week. The Ministerial role covers all things digital, from digital radio to internet policy. Ed Vaizey was highly praised for his involvement as Government Minister in the development and promotion of DAB digital radio, but some industries coming under his brief were not as happy. Matthew Hancock, first made MP in 2010, was the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General, also attending Cabinet meetings. He previously served as jointly Minister of State for Business and Enterprise and Minister of State for Energy in the Conservative-Liberal Democrat Coalition Government.
